Belltech Electric is locally owned and operated with a commitment to give back to the community. Through the Vancouver Island Construction Association (VICA) we have had the honour to be involved in the Young Construction Leaders (YCL) Legacy Project this year. The YCL legacy project involves construction leaders volunteering their time, labour and resources to develop projects that support the local community. The current YCL Legacy Project is the Gorge Waterway Nature House operated by World Fisheries Trust. The House is located in the Esquimalt-Gorge Park and serves the general public, community groups and schools. Each year over 9000 people have visited the nature house for community celebrations and educational programs on the local aquatic biodiversity and environmental conservation. The house requires substantial renovations to increase the size of the learning facilities, renovate bathrooms, and provide heat for a longer operational year. Planning is now underway for construction to begin in September. Belltech Electric has contributed volunteer time, materials and labour to help make this project a true long-term legacy to the community.
